Emmy Award-winning talk show host Bart Kane has seen ratings for his program plummet to the cellar in recent years, and he desperately needs something to save it and his own battered ego. Could the Biblical Moses, returned and residing in Manhattan, be the solution?

While on an amateur archeological dig in Jordan, Bart and his friends discover Moses buried in a cave but miraculously still alive. The frail body is flown to a rehabilitation facility in New York and is fully revived. Bart is urged to have Moses on the show, but he is a hardened skeptic and cannot stomach another “circus act.” Besides, a yeshiva dropout and son of Holocaust survivors, Bart left that insular world decades ago. But after Bart is convinced of Moses’ authenticity, he agrees to interview him on the show and even offers the guest room in his apartment. Much to his surprise, the stereotyped image of the Biblical luminary gives way to a three-dimensional person struggling with issues of identity, guilt, and doubt—not unlike the inner conflicts Bart has been wrestling with all his life. The emerging parallels in their lives enable the two men to develop a close friendship. But when a shocking incident from Moses’ past is leaked by the media, it imperils their relationship and threatens to destroy the Biblical hero’s reputation. Can Bart come to grips with this startling revelation? Can he still help this tragic figure—and can Bart himself be healed along the way?

Steve Stroiman is a rabbi and has a doctorate in educational psychology. He has been teaching Jewish Studies for six decades, and his writing, both fiction and nonfiction, has been published in various magazines and newspapers. Steve lives with his family in Philadelphia.
